Success Stories

Sometimes their fur is matted, and sometimes they're sick. Sometimes they're skittish, and sometimes they're scared. Sometimes they come from outside, and sometimes they've been abandoned. We're here for them all. We bring these cats and kittens to Fosters who will give them a safe place to live and reliable care to heal... we begin their second chance and hope for adopters to come along to give each one the home they deserved in the beginning.
Pittsburgh Purrfect Cat Rescue has saved the lives of many cats and kittens in need, and we are so grateful for the amazing adopters who have given our animals the forever homes they so desperately require.

Some of our felines start out on the streets like Marie and Toulouse. When we rescue cats and kittens from the wilds, they often have some sort of parasite and are in need of medical care. Marie and Toulouse are two examples of kittens born outside whose affinity for people was not affected by their surroundings. It did, however, make them a bonded pair because of everything they'd been through together. This meant that they needed to be adopted together. Fortunately, their forever human came along and opened up their home and heart to these two so that they could stay together. But, not all cats and kittens end up like Marie and Toulouse; sometimes, they do have personalities that are marked by their circumstances early in life.
Wendy was found outside in the cold with her sister when she was about six months old. Because of her experiences as a little one, Wendy was unfamiliar with humans and didn't trust them easily. Her Foster was patient with her and allowed Wendy to open up on her own terms. Though she made huge progress, Wendy was, and is, a "look, but don't touch" kind of cat. Fortunately, Wendy was lucky to find a very special human who understood her needs and who was willing to be patient with her as she was introduced to her forever home.

Some of our cats and kittens begin their lives in homes that treat them as if they don't matter. These cats and kittens are often behind on medical treatments, and their eyes tell a story of neglect. A number of these animals are found in homes with an unhealthy amount of pets inside. Others have been abused and undoubtedly deserve better lives.

Dexter getting cozy at her Foster's house
Sometimes, cats and kittens seek a better life for themselves by "telling" humans what they need. Dexter, for example, was a two year old outside cat who found a house she couldn't keep herself from wandering into. Every day, she greeted the owner of the home and snuck her way through the doorway so that she could cozy up inside. The resident of the home couldn't locate Dexter's owner and was unable to care for Dexter themselves, so they reached out to our rescue. We immediately found a Foster for Dexter, and it wasn't long until this friendly little lady was adopted by her forever person.
Whatever the circumstances, we will strive to help every cat and kitten that we can so that they can live the type of lives they deserve. Check out our slideshow to get to know more of the cats and kittens that have found their second chance through our rescue. Many more than those shown have been saved, and we are looking forward to continuing this work so that we can continue to improve the lives of felines in need.
